"Army was a pleasant and competent host and he picked good locations for us to visit. The only negative on the trip was a situation created by 2 specific guests (a husband and wife) from the Napa Welcome Center. They said they were volunteers at the Center and were granted a free tour and free tastings because they were "in the industry" and could better make future recommendations to travelers. These two freeloaders tended to monopolize tour conversations and spaces that should have been dedicated to paying guests.Plus, very suspiciously, the freeloading wife waited alone in the tasting room at Bennett Lane while the group and the only host on duty went on a vineyard tour. Soon thereafter, it was quite evident that this lady was stinking drunk and she became increasingly belligerent with both her husband and Army. I suspect this lady helped herself to unlimited glasses of wine while the group was in the vineyard. On final ride back to Napa, the drunk, freeloading lady demanded that Army stop the van so she could relieve herself on the roadside (Army wisely refused for everyone's safety) and she even began to undress inside the van to prepare herself to urinate (her husband restrained her, but she smacked him for it). Needless to say, these two problematic guests (again, who were on the tour gratis) put a big damper on what would have been a great Platypus Tour.I'd recommend that you give feedback about these two "volunteers" to the Welcome Center. They are NOT good representatives of Napa."
"Bob was a knowledgeable, competent host. He was generally pleasant, but could improve his guest service delivery by not interrupting active guest conversations. It seemed to me that he wanted to be the center of attention rather than letting the guests also enjoy each other's company. To be clear, this is not a huge problem, but it is something Bob should avoid if he wants to improve. (Full disclosure, I spent 25 years as an executive in a leading worldwide hospitality company, so I know more than most about guest service.)Also, your marketing materials indicated that tasting fees would be approximately $15 per person. Of the 4 testings selected by Bob, only one was $15 (Lassetter Family). The other 3 were either $20 or $25 each. Either Bob needs to reconsider the tastings he chooses for the group to keep the average price around $15, or your need to update your marketing materials as the average we encountered was well above $15.Due to a reported oversight, your team failed to address my wife's food allergy requirement, but they did a nice job recovering from that error by offering $10 off our tour price. Thank you.Best of luck with your business."
"I had a five start experience with Platypus Tours. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour for anyone. Greg, our tour guide was very educated, and personable. The wineries that were chosen were spot on what you could envision in your mind what a full day in Napa would be. Each winery was unique, and wonderful in their own way. The lunch that was included was extremely tasty and well exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be booking another tour through Platypus!"
"I had a five star experience curated by our guide Greg. We visited 4 outstanding wineries that were tucked away on beautiful properties and hosted by gracious , friendly, welcoming informative wine makers. Our delicious lunch was laid out for us under shade trees in a beautiful grove at one of the stops. Greg educated and entertained us with stories of the art , science and history of Napa wine making- and his music playlist provided the perfect soundtrack as we drove up and down the valley. Such a full day immersed in the beauty and tase and variety of Napa Valley."
"My friends and I had the best time on our tour! We were blown away by the private tastings, winery tours, and all the information we gained about wine! Our tour guide, Shelly, was great and offered lots of suggestions for the rest our trip. I highly recommend Platypus and will definitely use them again when I return to Sonoma and Napa!!"
"Can’t speak highly enough of this experience. From the moment of booking they were so thorough, adding a person at last minute was no problem , got regular emails and a personal call the morning of pick up to ensure all ok. My 2 friends hadn’t been to the region before. I have so had frame of reference. The 4 wineries we visited were very varied, 1 was small and a bit mediocre but we liked it for personal reasons. The other wineries were what a tourist would really want in terms of bigger experience. Lunch was delicious and Tina our driver was really fun. Loved the mini bus seating as you all sit around the endge of bus, ie facing each other which is great for interaction with others and much better than all facing forward. It’s a small thing but makes a big difference. We were also lucky to have a really great group of chatty fun people."
"My girlfriend, our hubby's and I went on a join in tour with Platapus last saturday. Mark, our driver was great! He was informative about Napa, the wineries and was fun. He took us to some lovely wineries, all of which were a bit different, and all had a tour of some sort. No pressure from them to buy wine, very easy going. Lunch was yummy and everything was well timed. Our group had a great time getting to know each other and share some pictures Would definitely recommend Platypus and Mark!0"
"Cindy was an amazing tour guide. Very fun, relaxed, and easy going. I think the group on the tour can potentially make or break it. Our group was fun, energetic, and friendly We mostly visited smaller wineries which could be a drawback if it’s your first time in Napa and you’re expecting to see the more popular wineries. For most of the tours (except one), there was no description of the wine making process, just the wine tasting. We did get to tour a cave which was awesome. Overall, a solid 4/5. Ask for Cindy!"
"Cyndi Turner was our tour guide and she was awesome! The experience was wonderful. The occasion for us was a bachelorette party so it was perfect. We didn't have to plan much since it was an all day thing. It was so much fun that we are thinking of doing it again, but this time with our significant others. I would totally recommend this for big parties or even just an intimate one because you end up going with other people on the bus as well."
"Highly recommend this tour! We had the best time! Our guide and driver was great in all facets and made the tour fun. One of the two best days of our week long vacation. (Trumped only by a whale doing a full breach 3 times plus many surface behaviors. ) LOL"
