"Our girls trip of 5 had a wonderful time with Walt & the four wineries we visited. Loved Luxton, felt like we had a hands on experience as they had just picked the grapes & we got to see how that process worked. Walt was informative & I loved his layed back hometown vibe as he has been in the area forever & a teacher in town. He did a great job with our lunch and making sure our wine made it to the van for safe keeping. Always available to help us out with a photo opt. We loved having our own tables for our tastings at each winery, felt very special. Would recommend this company & Walt to anyone visiting the area. We even asked Walt for recommendations for a place to eat later in the evening, he had a suggestion but when I called they were full.....Walt said, "let me give them a call", he did but unfortunately came back to us to say it was super busy/full. 20 Min. later I get a call saying they had an opening............hmmmmm Walt???"
"We had an amazing day with Gary as our guide. He picked unique wineries for us to visit, each were different and beautiful. He would jump in and keep the dialog and conversation going, but was never intrusive. He was extremely knowledgeable about wine and the area in general, often supplementing what the winery guides were saying. Lunch and snacks were great!"
"My friend and I did two tours with Platypus/ Sonoma and Napa. Michael was our driver both days (we think he made a special request as we are so lovely 🤣) and we had a great time. Michael is very knowledgeable about wines and the region and we visited some lovely wineries. We had a great time in the region. Thank you. Amanda"
"The Platypus small group tour of Sonoma wineries was outstanding. Our tour guide Michael was was extremely knowledgeable about wines having worked in the industry most of his life. We visited five smaller wineries, each with its own unique character and style. All the wines we tasted were excellent. The only drawback was that small wineries tend not to produce wines for the retail market so, if you want to get wines from these wineries after the fact, you have to join their wine club. It was a blessing (unique wines you couldn't find anywhere else) and a curse (not easily attainable once you leave the winery). I also learned a lot about the wine making process, growing grapes, and tasting. I don't believe we would have been able to duplicate this tour on our own. Well worth the money."
"September 17, 2019 I was making my first trip to wine country with my wife Denise. I cannot imagine having a better experiance than we did with our tour driver Chris and the other people making up the group. I would strongly recomend if you are traveling to Sonoma to take the tour with Platypus !!!"
"Kyle was great. The tour was great!"
"This was just a great time. We tasted some outstanding wine, and enjoyed an overall great tour. Kyle was an awesome host. He is very knowledgeable, and personable. In addition to being a very driver,he took us to some great wineries, and provided a great lunch. We had a fun day,and met a lot of really fun people!"
"We had a fabulous time with Greg our tour guide. He brought us to some lovely wineries. I could not recommend this tour enough, the highlight of my trip to California."
"I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Army. Every winery we stopped at was absolute perfection. From tasting wine on the Vintners home deck to meeting the horses that lived on the farm every single stop was personal, welcoming, and most importantly delicious. Army even set me up for a date later that night 😉. Overall this tour was the most fun I had on my whole trip. I can’t wait to come visit again!"
"Bob was a knowledgeable, competent host. He was generally pleasant, but could improve his guest service delivery by not interrupting active guest conversations. It seemed to me that he wanted to be the center of attention rather than letting the guests also enjoy each other's company. To be clear, this is not a huge problem, but it is something Bob should avoid if he wants to improve. (Full disclosure, I spent 25 years as an executive in a leading worldwide hospitality company, so I know more than most about guest service.)Also, your marketing materials indicated that tasting fees would be approximately $15 per person. Of the 4 testings selected by Bob, only one was $15 (Lassetter Family). The other 3 were either $20 or $25 each. Either Bob needs to reconsider the tastings he chooses for the group to keep the average price around $15, or your need to update your marketing materials as the average we encountered was well above $15.Due to a reported oversight, your team failed to address my wife's food allergy requirement, but they did a nice job recovering from that error by offering $10 off our tour price. Thank you.Best of luck with your business."
