Update on Coronavirus, Covid-19 & California Fires

Pressing questions answered!

Covid-19:

1. Yes! Most Napa Valley and Sonoma region wineries are currently open and offering outdoor wine tasting experiences. Our wine country is indeed still open!

2. Platypus Tours is also still up and running, conducting our awesome private wine tours as well as a modified version of our celebrated join-in tours (CDC compliant, generous physical distancing on vehicles). Tours offered seven days per week.

3. We're making every effort to protect our guests and our staff from any possible virus transmission. The wineries we're visiting are doing this as well.

4. Who knew?! Our tours are just as fun and interesting as they ever were! In fact, our seasoned guides have been reporting some of their best-ever tour groups and winery experiences during recent weeks. Why? Lack of crowds during our normal high season is magical. Also, wineries are so thrilled to be seeing guests during this time that they're digging extra deep to please and accommodate our guests.

Learn more on our COVID-19 page.

California Fire Update (Updated 9/22/2020)

1. We are still operating tours in Napa & Sonoma.  We do not anticipate this changing.

2.  The only fires within Napa & Sonoma County are over 98% contained in the rural edges of the county and are not near the valley floor.

3. There is some haze that blows through the valley depending on the wind direction from fires within the state. The air cleans out nicely when our normal weather pattern blows clean air from the Pacific Ocean over the Bay Area, which has been happening fairly regularly.  Sensitive groups should monitor the air quality through local weather services.
