Tour Description
Picture yourself taking in the lovely scenery of the magnificent Napa Valley as you ride in comfort on board our salon-style tour shuttle as we travel along the gently curving backroads, visiting a curated selection of intimate lesser-known wineries. This small-group tour is designed to be a fun, relaxing day out in the wine country. Your tour guide will share stories and anecdotes, as well as imparting just the right amount of details about winemaking and grape growing. This is a social experience, with most of our guests making new friends by the end of the day.
Tour Details
Meeting point: Picks up from most area lodging properties. Meeting locations available for those driving to the area.
Length: 6.5 hours or so
Pick-up time: 10:00am – 10:30am for most locations
Group size: 8-12, mostly. No more than 14
Features:
- Visits three wineries
- Access to explore the winery grounds and see various aspects of the winemaking process
- Tasty picnic box lunch, served on the grounds at a scenic winery
- Brief stories, anecdotes and non-boring winemaking information will be shared by your driver/guide
- Wherever possible, we’ll arrange access to winery owners / winemakers
- Pick-up and drop-off at your hotel or other point of origin
Not included:
- Winery tasting fees
- For our Small-group tours guests, wineries offer a significantly discounted tasting fee of $25pp. This fee is usually waived for anyone purchasing wine or joining that winery’s wine club.
- Driver/guide gratuity
- Driver tipping is at your discretion, except for parties of 5 or more. We’ll add a 20% gratuity for those

Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel your join-in tour reservation anytime up to 24 hours before the tour with no penalty. Cancellation fee of $35 per person will apply to any cancellations made within 24 hours of tour departure.
What about winery tasting fees?
You should expect to pay tasting fees at the wineries.These fees typically run about $25 per person, per winery, but each fee is usually waived with the purchase of one to two bottles of wine.
How many passengers are onboard a Platypus Wine Tour?
What sort of vans are used for this tour?
Will the shuttle pick up from my lodging location?
Yes…well, maybe. Some private addresses are inaccessible or too remote for our shuttles. Please call us with the address and we’ll check for you.
What if we’re staying outside of the area?
Some folks drive in to our meeting location. Some take the ferry from San Francisco and we pick them up from the ferry landing. Some book a private tour instead, since we have a much wider pick-up radius for those.
