Wine Tasting Fees + Coupons FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are winery tasting fees?
These are fees charged by the wineries, compensating them for the wine they pour for guests.
Are these fees included in my wine tour fee?
Sorry, no. The tasting fees are in addition to your tour charge.
How much are wine tasting fees?
The fees on our join-in tours typically run about $20-$25 per person, per winery. Platypus Tours works hard to cultivate relationships with these wineries so these fees are often discounted for our guests. The fees on private tours depend on what the given winery charges for the particular tasting experience.
Are these fees ever waived?
Yes. Many of the wineries on our Join-In Tours will waive tasting fees for those guests who purchase their wine or join their wine club. It’s not always the case, so be sure and ask your tour guide.
May I share a tasting with my sweetie?
Most of the wineries we visit on our join-in tour will allow our guests to share a tasting if notified at arrival, though it depends on the individual winery policy.
Am I required to taste at all of the wineries?
On our join-in tours, you are not required to taste at the wineries, and you will not be required to pay tasting fees for wineries at which you do not taste. There are a couple of wineries that are exceptions to this rule, so if this is your intention, be sure to consult your tour guide.
Can I get coupons for free or discounted tastings?
Typically the fee is already discounted for our guests on join-in tours and they do not honor outside coupons. You are welcome to ask the particular winery.

“Brilliant day out in the Napa Valley. My wife and I were recommended the trip with Platypus by our concierge and it couldn’t have been better. We generally don’t do ‘group trips’ when we’re on holiday but it was the best way to enjoy the different wineries. Gary was great and we really felt looked after.”
