What did you do before you became a wine tour guide?
“Business Development in various industries. Also, wine consolidation & export.”

What drew you to wine country?
“I always have enjoyed wine country. My great, great, great, great grandfather, Reason P. Tucker, settled between St. Helena & Calistoga in 1846. So, I come from an official California pioneer family!”

What are your hobbies/interests?
“Fresh & Saltwater Fishing, Duck Hunting, exploring new places and gardening.”

How long have you been a wine tour guide?
“This is my fifth season with Platypus. I’ve been visiting wine country since 1989.”

What is your favorite wine (varietal)?
“Pinot Noir, because of the wide range of flavors & complexities, and it pairs with most foods.”

What is your favorite non-wine activity in wine country?
“Kayaking on the Napa River.”

What is your most interesting tour story?
“I hosted a bachelorette party and one of the bride’s guests turned out to be Kelsey, who was Ms. Iowa, and then a few months later was a finalist on the Bachelor.”

What’s your favorite wine country restaurant?
“Salt & Stone in Kenwood, and Angele on the River in Napa.”

What factors do you consider when picking wineries for a tour?
“I plan for a variety of experiences and varietals, while covering a majority of the wine region chosen.”
