The postcard-like scenery that Napa Valley wineries and Sonoma wineries allow residents to share in many wonderful outings, especially during the spring and summer months. Not only can you sample some of the incredible vintages these wineries produce, but you can also enjoy a picnic backing onto rolling hills and vineyards. Here are some of our favorite spots to lay out a blanket and enjoy some delicious food and wine outdoors.

Picnic Locations in Napa Valley Wineries

Many of the Napa Valley and Sonoma wineries allow picnic-goers to set up on their beautiful landscape and bring their own snacks, however, they do require you to purchase a bottle from them. The Laird Family Estate is a popular choice for families. It features a very large lawn and plenty of space. Pope Valley Winery, one of the oldest in all of Napa, offers picnic tables and Bocce courts. If you’re not a fan of sitting in the sun, head over to Dutch Henry Winery and enjoy a picnic with plenty of shade.

Other picnic-perfect wineries in the area include Frank Family Vineyards and Rombauer Vineyards, both of which offer spectacular views.

Pre-Prepared Picnics

If you’re after a truly laid-back experience and prefer to have the prep work done for you, several Napa Valley wineries offer a turn-key picnic experience. Just place your order, show up, and enjoy!

The Charles Krug Winery offers delicious sandwiches from their in-house deli and mouth-watering pizza baked fresh in their wood oven. The Chandon Winery supplies you with all of your favorite picnic foods and of course, their prestigious Chandon wines. V.Sattui also has its own deli and can supply you with all the provisions you need to satisfy your taste buds.

Napa Valley Parks

If wineries aren’t your thing but you still want to get outdoors, Napa Valley has several stunning parks that feature designated picnic areas and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy some hiking, biking, and picturesque views.

If you’re planning on enjoying some fine wine, be sure to head to any one of the parks in Yountville as responsible alcohol consumption is permitted there. Old Faithful Geyser park is a top choice among families as it features plenty of friendly wildlife and of course, the natural geyser. Other great parks include Timberhill park and Skyline park in Napa Valley.
