If you’re in Napa or Sonoma between December and May, you’ll have an ample opportunity to catch a glimpse of one of the planet’s most majestic creatures. Whale-watchers can hike along the Bodega Bay Trailhead and enjoy spectacular views off the cliffs that look over the ocean where breaching whales can be spotted. After your hike, head into town and enjoy some delicious seafood at restaurants like Spud Point Crab Company and Fishetarian Fish Market.

You probably weren’t expecting Oakland to make this list, but we’re happy to report that the city of Oakland has undergone an incredible transformation over the last 10 years. Uptown Oakland is lined with trendy bars, world-class restaurants, quaint boutiques, and plenty of theatres and art galleries. It’s become a top spot for families and groups of friends looking for a day of culture, fine dining, and great memories.
San Francisco: Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf
This is one of California’s most popular tourist spots and is chock-full of entertainment. Be sure to visit one of the many museums in the area and don’t forget to enjoy a local act by a talented street performer. You can also enjoy viewing playful sea lions and also visit the Aquarium of the Bay.
