Since 1975 acclaimed filmaker Francis Ford Coppola has been reestablishing the grandeur of the historic estate that was founded in 1879. His signature wine, Rubicon, is produced partially from grapes originally planted in the 1880's.
The Martin family have been making wine since 2002 and in 2011 found a permanent home in Coombsville which is Napa Valley's newest AVA, located just minutes from downtown Napa. This stunning winery is made up of an 16,000 square foot cave which is tucked into a picturesque hillside overlooking their vineyards. As you tour through the caves you'll taste their current release wines. This intimate setting is the perfect place to learn more about the wine-making process as this is a working winery or you can just take in the beauty of the Vaca Mountains and vineyards.
From an early age, John remembers looking out at the empty church property next to his parents’ vineyards and dreaming that one day he would plant it with vines. In 2003, he founded Church Vineyard at last. The Los Carneros AVA has a distinctly maritime climate, with winds from the San Pablo Bay and shallow clay and loam soils well-suited to Bordeaux varietals. This idyllic vineyard has proven its quality with every vintage. Two acres planted to the high-toned and aromatic Western clone and two acres planted to the deep, rich Musqué clone enable John to create two different styles of Sauvignon Blanc from the site, which John purchased in 2018.
A rich history paved the way for their philosophy and craft today. Established in the 1970s in the heart of Sonoma, they began winemaking long before the region’s AVAs were created. Their philosophy and craftsmanship are extensions of our rich history.
