Nestled in the hills above the Napa Valley at 1,550 feet, Kenzo Estate encompasses 3,800 acres, five times the size of New York’s Central Park. Only 150 acres of the unspoiled, wild woodlands have been planted to vines. Protected within this preserve are spring-fed reservoirs, vernal pools, streams and diverse forests of conifer, oak and manzanita. Wild boar, coyote, mountain lion, deer, turkey, and bobcat linger in the wilderness and are occasionally observed by guests and those attending to the estate. The land is truly a welcome escape from the outside world.
When a wine is made from the most carefully chosen fruit, in very small quantities, with unsparing attention to detail, a new level of excellence becomes possible.
In Napa, Betty fell in love with the beauty of the land, the vineyards, and the climate. In 1990, she landed in Oakville with a parcel of land, including vineyards and a home site. Betty reconnected with her deep-rooted appreciation of the soil and the bounties it brings. Over the next few years, additional vineyards on Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder added to the source available for varieties of grapes. The new century brought a cave, grapes crushed into wine and a design for a winery structure. The project completed in time for the harvest of 2003.
Palmaz Vineyards is a family-owned and -operated gravity-flow, gravity-finish winery and historic estate at the southern end of Napa Valley. The estates centerpiece is the Cave, an 18-story, 100,000-square-foot subterranean winery that required seven years to complete. There, the family combines the latest technology with time-honored craftsmanship to make, among much else, their signature Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon.
From the beginning, the family has striven to create opulent wines that exemplify the beauty and harmony of the Napa Valley. Today, you are invited to join the journey and experience the artistry that is Patland wine. Cheers!
