The “BRING ME HOME” campaign hopes to place homeless animals into loving homes.

NAPA VALLEY, Calif. – Starting today, Platypus Wine Tours and the Napa County Animal Shelter announce a new mobile campaign aimed at promoting pet adoptions in Napa County. Also known as the “Bring Me Home” Campaign, Platypus Wine Tours has donated space on the sides of their tour buses to showcase photos of available and adoptable pets from the Napa County Animal Shelter.
Each of Platypus Wine Tours’ 16 buses will highlight different cats and dogs currently available for adoption. Oversized decals placed on either the back or driver side of the bus will feature a photo of a dog or cat along with its name, adoption availability date, and Napa County Animal Shelter’s contact information. As each animal is adopted, the bus decals will be replaced with new ones featuring other adoptable pets looking for loving homes.
Platypus Wine Tours Founder, Don Rickard, and his wife, Kathy, are avid animal lovers. The pair cares for three dogs of their own, including Roscoe, who was adopted last year from the Napa County Animal Shelter.
“We adore animals. We’ve been adopting our pets from the animal shelter for years,” stated Don. “I have always been touched by the plight of all the homeless pets waiting to be adopted. I’ve been trying to think of a way to help for some time. I’m very hopeful that this project will make a difference.”
Platypus Wine Tours offers wine tours in both Napa and Sonoma Counties. Since these buses are seen throughout the Bay Area, both partners hope to build visibility and awareness of the “Bring Me Home” Campaign very quickly.
“Our goal is to place each pet in a home where they will be loved, cherished and cared for,” states the Napa County Animal Shelter Manager, Kristen Loomer. “We hope to inspire local residents to consider pet adoption and call us for further information when they see the photos on the buses. We are very grateful for the generosity of time and spirit from all involved that has made the ‘Bring Me Home’ campaign possible. The more people learn that our adoption center is the place to find the perfect companion, the more animals we can help in Napa Valley.”
Platypus Wine Tours will build on the “Bring Me Home” campaign by offering the new “Bow Wow” Tour Package in November 2012. This pet-friendly tour package will allow guests to bring their dogs along as they visit pet-friendly wineries. Ten percent of the proceeds from “Bow Wow” ticket sales will be donated to the Napa County Animal Shelter.
Platypus Wine Tours and the Napa County Animal Shelter would also like to thank Sally Seymour Photography and the Napa Valley Sign Shop for their contributions which helps make the “Bring Me Home” campaign possible.
