As the warmer weather continues to make its way to Napa Valley and the guidelines allow for 100% capacity at wineries and restaurants it is time to start planning your next weekend getaway and Napa Valley wine tours! Now, the beginning stages of planning your getaway can seem like a daunting task with over 500 wineries in the valley, countless amazing restaurants and resorts, it can be hard to choose. Do not worry or get overwhelmed yet, we are here with 4 simple steps to start planning your wine country getaway.
- They always say location, location, location is the most important thing, whether it be buying a house or choosing where to stay in beautiful Napa Valley or which Sonoma wine tours to join. We recommend selecting your lodging and then creating your itinerary from there. Identify if you want to stay in downtown Napa with some nightlife and the ability to walk around to tasting rooms, or if you prefer to stay up valley with views of the vineyards at a resort with a lot of amenities. There are some incredible places to choose from in both locations. Our friends over at Visit Napa Valley have created this amazing list to help you in this process.
- The next important step from there is to select where you want to go wine tasting and make reservations at the winery. It is always best to plan ahead for your wine tasting to ensure the wineries you want to go to will be able to host you. If selecting wineries is a little overwhelming (which it definitely can be with hundreds to choose from!), we recommend booking one of our Sonoma wine tours or Napa Valley wine tours. Choosing a wine tour is a great way for you to sit back, relax and enjoy different wine tasting experiences all hosted by an experienced guide.
- While wine tasting is the main focal point of tourism in the valley, there are a ton of different unique activities you can do. We are here to give you some other ideas of how to best enjoy your weekend amongst the vineyards. There is the Napa Valley Vine Trail where you can bike, walk, or run along this beautiful trail which is still in the process of connecting all 47 miles from the ferry terminal in Vallejo to Calistoga. See wine country from new heights with a hot air balloon ride and fabulous views which can stretch as far as the San Francisco skyline on a really clear morning. If golf is a favorite sport of yours, why not check out one of the many pristine golf courses in the region. Chardonnay Golf Course in an 18-hole course that winds through over 100 acres of vineyards, or the Silverado Golf Course, which is home to the PGA Tour Safeway Open!
- Last but certainly not least is deciding where you are wanting to dine during your weekend getaway. The valley is of course known for having some of the most incredible restaurants including Michelin star restaurants. This includes restaurants in Yountville, which is home to the previously voted best restaurant in the world, The French Laundry. Here is another great list to check out from Visit Napa Valley.
